Week One Is Done

So it has now been one week since we made it to Boise, ID. In that week we have seen a few places, met a few people, and we have really tried to enjoy each others company.

The kids and I went on a mini adventure as we drove all over Boise following Susan (our GPS) looking for the "good" Walmart. While we were driving around it seemed liked we had crossed a few rivers when in fact we crossed the same river 3 time. Apparently Susan took us the long way around. lol!

One day I took the kids on a walk to a park that is just down the street (Ann Morrison Park). We came across a some geese. The kids were so excited and they started to chase them. I thought for sure the geese were going to retaliate and attack so I started recording it (I was secretly hoping for a Funniest home video worthy entry). They ran and ran and the geese didn't seem to mind to much. While at the park walking we found out that people actually jump off the pedestrian bridge in to the Boise river(there are even "how to" rules). We are kind of bummed that we will leave ID before the weather is nice enough to go floating down the river in inner-tubes, which I heard was a ton of fun.

With all of us being together and with Colt having Fridays off. He now gets a chance to participate in our homeschool studies. He likes to teach and show the kids all sorts of things. This week he was very excited to teach them how to make chocolate. The kids were all very engaged and were so happy that Daddy was doing "school time" with them. They roasted cacao nibs then mixed and mixed until the temp and texture were just right. They then spread it out to cool and harden. After it was ready he had them taste the all natural one they made and the different store bought ones. They all agreed that even when it comes to chocolate if it is good for you it probably doesn't taste very good. Needless to say that homemade chocolate got thrown out.

It can be tough being in such a small space with so many people, but we are learning everyday how to be more patient and more understanding of what each one of our kids need. One good thing about "living" in a hotel is that I don't have to clean toilets or wash and change bedding. I still didn't get away from dishes but that is okay as long as we still get good meals.

Until next time. Love you Colt, Malayna, Bobby, CJ, Eva, and Lindy

Our Adventure

Our adventure did not just begin today. Let us go back to August 2012. When my loving husband came home from work one day to tell me that his company's contract had not been renewed. He soon hit the road and started working for the company just on a different contract. The new work had him out on the road 100% of the time, while I was at home caring for our home and 5 children.

After 4 months of him gone and with no end in sight, we decided to move our family to Vegas. We picked Vegas so that while Colt was out on the road I could have some family around to help me out with all the kids. While I did get some help while I was there, over all it turned out to be more trouble and work than I had at home by myself. Two very long months of the us living with my parents and some insinuating circumstances (and many hurt feelings) resulted in us packing up all of our stuff and getting the heck out of there. Now the kids and I have joined Colt on the road.

This brings us to today. After a nice relaxing day with my hubby's family in UT, we woke up bright and early to begin our life as a gypsy family. Today we drove to Boise, ID.

It was a super long drive but we had a couple of fun rest stops. First we stopped at Chick Fil A, a family favorite and really missed since we left Colorado.

Our next stop (which was my favorite) was Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

After a few more hours in the car we finally made it to our "new home" (at least for the next 2 months).

We are so glad that we have been homeschooling for a while now because the choice to travel with Colt was that much easier, no need to worry about where or when the kids go to school. We are looking forward to learning about all the places we will visit. We are also excited to teach the kids that "home" is anywhere that we are together as a family. Only time will show what God has in store for our family.

I suck!

Okay so I don't really suck at everything just keeping up with our blog. Anyways it has now been one year since my very first post, A WHOLE YEAR! In that year I have only done 11 post. I started out great then life just got in the way. The whole reason I started to blog was to keep a record of things we did and things on my mind for my children could one day look back and say, "Wow! You were the best Mom ever!" (well that was my hope anyways).

We as a family will be starting a new adventure and along the way I hope to keep track of all of our excitement. My goal it to sit down AT LEAST once a week and update this blog. I have set a reminder on my phone and I WILL take the time and write. My husband and children are very important to me and I have to remember that I am doing this for them, so that one day they can a have a fun memory keepsake.

I love you Colt, Malayan, Bobby, CJ, Eva, and Lindy
